The ranking rule
Every best-of page has one sentence that says how it ranks: for password managers, the usefulness of the free plan first, then regular annual price per person, then family seats per dollar. The rule is chosen before the products are looked at, and promotional first-year prices are shown but never move the ranking. A head-to-head page does not declare a winner where the published facts do not produce one; it says which product wins for which situation.
Dates and changes
